Eighty year old Bridgette is one of our customers living in Shefford, Bedfordshire. Whilst you might expect someone of her fairly advanced years to be taking life at a gentle pace, that just isn’t Bridgette.
She gets up early “to make every day count”, often helps look after some of her grandchildren and her great grandchild, and is an enthusiastic volunteer in her local drama group.
Whilst celebrating her 80th birthday last year, someone suggested that she should sky dive as part of her celebrations. Others may have laughed it off, but not Bridgette; she took the suggestion on board and ran with it (or should that be ‘flew’?) signing up to a tandem sky-dive on 19 May in Peterborough.
Is Bridgette a frequent flyer? Not exactly, no. She’s only been in a plane once before, when she was in her 20s.
“What more exciting thing can you do to celebrate your 80th birthday than being strapped to a nice young man and jump out of a plane?” she told us.
Although Bridgette is doing the sky dive for fun, she’s also raising money for a charity close to her heart – the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group. Sadly Bridgette lost a son to leukaemia when he was just five years old.
