Weight management – keeping on track

News – 9 August 2022

Losing weight can be challenging; it’s all about balance and remaining consistent, even in the warmer months. If you’ve already started your weight management journey, then congratulations!

MoreLife, a weight management and health improvement programme, has passed some top tips to our Health & Housing Coordinator, Natalie, to help keep you on track for the summer. If you haven’t taken that first step yet, you can still use these tips to jump start your journey.

  • Sunlight – say yes to morning sunlight. Getting up early and getting out of the house gives you more exposure to vitamin D which also helps with fat burning.
  • Start your day with water – hydration is important, and in hot weather it’s more important than ever. So start your day with a full glass of water. It helps to boost your metabolism, which is very important for weight management.
  • Eat regularly – regular snacking is good for weight management. The key is to opt for healthy snacks like high-protein and low-carb/sugar snacks, like unsalted almonds.
  • Movement – physical activity doesn’t have to be too strenuous. Yes, running, swimming, or playing sports are great, but just adding in more movement throughout the day can also help. Opt to take the stairs instead of using the lift or walk that short distance instead of driving can all help aid you in your weight management journey.
