Building more homes
is a key part of what we do at Grand Union.
Last year we had another great year as we built 282 new homes:
90
for rent (including social rent, affordable rent and supported living)
118
shared ownership homes
69
for supported housing and housing for older people
5
for market sale

During the year, we built our 1,000th shared ownership home.
The three-bedroom home in Shefford, Bedfordshire, is home to Alice, her husband Adam, and son Oscar. It’s one of 42 built on the site which was originally one very large house and its land.
National recognition
Early in 2023, Quince Court in Sandy, Bedfordshire was highly commended at a national awards ceremony.
The extra care scheme was praised by judges at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Excellence Awards. Sadly, it just missed out on the award for best purpose-built accommodation.
The scheme won the regional award for the Central region in autumn 2022. It was one of six national finalists in the category at the awards. They recognise and reward people in construction who work in all types of building projects.
We finished building 25 new modern self–contained apartments at the scheme in 2022. These sit next to 30 existing apartments and offer tailored care and support to over 55s.
