To celebrate International Wheelchair Day yesterday, Ollie, our Property Compliance Coordinator, hosted a wheel chair assault course to highlight the challenges he faces in and around our office.
This was part of our mission to create a culture of understanding to ensure everyone feels that they belong in their workplace and their community.
Participants had to make their way into the lift and around the office, make a hot drink in our kitchen and navigate their way into one of the accessible toilets. We were really proud that so many of our colleagues took part and some were surprised at some of the challenges Ollie faces.
Sue, one of our colleagues said: “It really brought home to me how tasks I take for granted can be so challenging for anyone in a wheelchair.”
