Electric Vehicle Permission
At GUHG we know that many of our customers are looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
We want to support you in making this change as part of our commitment to a greener future.
Here, we’ll explain the steps you need to take if you’re considering installing an electric vehicle (EV) charger at your home.
1. Plan ahead
If you’re thinking about getting an electric vehicle, it’s really important to plan ahead. You must get permission from us to install a charger first, even if you get your vehicle through the Motability scheme.
Doing so ensures that your home is suitable, and can safely accommodate an EV charger as not all homes can support the currently available EV charging infrastructure.
For example, if your property only has on-street parking or if installing a charger would require trailing cables, it could be unsafe. We have to consider the safety of both you and the wider community.
2. Request permission
Requesting permission for an EV charger can be done by submitting this form
Don’t forget to upload the photos with your form otherwise, your request cannot be approved.
3. Wait for approval
It’s important to wait for approval before you place an order for an Electric Vehicle as not all homes can accommodate the charging infrastructure. We aim to reply to your permissions request within 21 days.
4. Install your EV charger
Once we have reviewed your permission request we hope to send you an approval letter. When you have received written confirmation from us that your request for an EV charger has been approved, you may instruct a qualified EV charger installer to begin installation.
All installation work must be carried out by a qualified installer. This is to make sure the charger is installed safely and meets all required regulations.
5. Share your certificates
After your charger has been installed, please send us a copy of:
- Permission confirmation from the network provider
- Installation Certificate
- Photos of your new EV charger
So, if you’re thinking about making the switch to an electric vehicle, please complete the permission form. We’re excited to help you on your journey to greener driving and look forward to supporting you in this process.
