Supported living

We can support adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and mental health conditions to live independently, with support.

Finding the right home and right level of care and support is what matters most. That’s why we, working with specialist care and support providers, offer tailored accommodation solutions that meet individuals’ needs. Whether that’s for you or a loved one.

Grand Union is committed to expanding our portfolio of supported accommodation solutions. We continually work with local authorities and developers to build purpose-built properties for customers in need.

For many of our customers this will be their first opportunity to live in a home of their own and to develop skills to live more independently.

Some properties may have staff available 24 hours a day to provide support to individuals. Properties can be adapted to suit the needs of individual customers. This includes the installation of specialist equipment and creating wheelchair access.

These are some of the types of homes available:

Shared accommodation

Some of our properties are shared accommodation. Here customers have their own bedroom and share a living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Self-contained accommodation

We understand that not everyone enjoys living without others. We have a number of self-contained properties in purpose-built developments for individual customers occupancy.

Registered care

We also have some care homes which offer specialist accommodation with personal care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How to apply for supported living

For our homes, we need a referral from Adult Services within the Local Authority. To start the process, you’ll need to:

  1. Speak to your Social Worker/Care Manager/Community Mental Health Team and tell them you’re interested in applying for supported housing with Grand Union.
  2. They can help you fill in an application form which will be sent to us.
