How can we help you with your debt?
A Debt Advisor will take a look at your whole financial situation so we can give you the best advice. This includes:
- Looking at your income and seeing if there are ways to increase it. If needed, we can refer you to our Welfare Benefits Advice team for extra support.
- Helping you find ways to reduce your outgoings.
- Looking at any debts you have and explaining which ones are the most important to deal with first and why.
- Talking you through the different options available to help you manage your debts. This could include setting up affordable repayment plans with the people or organisations you owe money to, or looking at more formal debt solutions, if appropriate. Everyone’s situation is different, so we’ll make sure the advice is tailored to your needs.
- Supporting you to put your chosen solution into place. If we can’t help with this directly, we’ll refer you to another organisation that can.
To help us support you, we’ll ask you to sign a form that gives us permission to contact relevant organisations on your behalf. You’ll also need to sign our Debt Advice Service Agreement.
We’ll work with you to understand your income and expenditure, so it’s important that you are open and honest about your circumstances. The more accurate the information you give us, the better we can advise and support you.
What if I have rent arrears with Amplius?
We can still give you advice if you have rent arrears with us.
The only time we canāt help is if weāre taking legal action to repossess your home. This is because there would be a conflict of interest.
If this happens, you should get advice from another independent organisation (see below).
