Amplius has joined forces with a Leicester-based animation studio to raise awareness of hoarding.

Kino Bino has created ‘Of All The Things’, an animated short film which focuses on a mother and daughter relationship and explores the emotional challenges of living with hoarding disorder.

We’re proud to have sponsored the project, which premiered during Hoarding Awareness Week, to help bring it to fruition.

Craig Taylor, Director of Customer Operations, said: “We know that hoarding is a very difficult subject for people to talk about, especially if they or somebody they know is dealing with a situation.

“We’re really pleased to have been able to support Kino Bino in creating ‘Of All The Things’ as a way of making that conversation a little bit easier.

“Our colleagues work closely with any of our customers who are dealing with hoarding to provide the support they need to overcome it and we’ve had some amazing results quite recently.”

‘Of All The Things’ is directed by Steff Lee, who drew inspiration from her own lived experience.

She said: “As the child of someone with hoarding behaviours, I’ve grappled with the stigma and shame surrounding the condition.

“Through my own journey to understanding and acceptance, I’ve been inspired to create a film that sheds light on the human side of this often overlooked mental health issue.

“I hope this film can be a conversation starter, breaking the stigma and offering visibility to those affected by hoarding disorder.”

By sponsoring the film, we’re among organisations such as Hoarding Disorders UK, Age UK, Cadent Gas and various other housing associations in supporting the project.

Jo Cooke from Hoarding Disorders UK added: “The film will help reduce the shame and help to have more open conversations about hoarding and the various reasons why we hoard.

“It will help people be more curious and more compassionate and less judgmental.”

After its Hoarding Awareness Week premiere, ‘Of All The Things’ will be entered into film festivals worldwide, bringing its important message to global audiences.
