New supported living accommodation has been completed in Bedford.

Weโ€™ve delivered the eight apartments on Shakespeare Road in the town and the completed development will also include office space and accommodation for staff.

The keys were officially handed over this week.

The development has been part-funded with money from Bedford Borough Council and through our strategic partnership with Homes England.

Dave Lakin, Director of Development and Sales, said: โ€œThese apartments will allow residents to live independently, while receiving support from a specialist care and support provider.

โ€œProviding supported living homes like this is important to us as an organisation, as we know how important it is for everyone to have a safe, affordable and quality home as the foundation for a good life.

โ€œWeโ€™ve worked very closely with Bedford Borough Council and High Street Homes to make sure this development meets the needs of the local community and comes to fruition, so Iโ€™d like to thank everyone whoโ€™s been involved in this project.

โ€œIโ€™m delighted to see the completed development being handed over and weโ€™re all looking forward to welcoming our new residents very soon.โ€

The one-bedroom apartments will be made available on a social rent basis and will be allocated in partnership with the local authority.

Once up and running, care and support services will be provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Debbie Stuart, Director of Independent Living, added: โ€œWeโ€™re delighted with the new accommodation and are working in partnership with Bedford Borough Council to identify customers for the scheme.

โ€œWe know thereโ€™s huge demand for supported housing and are looking forward to welcoming our new customers.โ€

The scheme was built by High Street Homes and James Riding-Felce, Contracts Manager, said: โ€œWe have the great pleasure to have successfully completed this supported living development for Amplius.

โ€œThis new facility not only fulfils a vital need for supported living accommodation in Bedford, but also contributes positively to the local community and built environment.โ€
