Now retired, John spent over 40 years working in the financial services sector, originally with Midland Bank holding roles in risk management and as a corporate banking property & construction sector lending and debt restructuring & insolvency specialist and latterly with Nationwide Building Society where he was Head of Risk Management for their social housing, commercial lending and treasury operations.
Over his career he acquired an extensive knowledge of property & financial markets and risk management practices and was responsible for governance, developing and implementing risk policies, processes, assessment and management information reporting tools and supervising audits and regulatory reviews and has provided independent consultancy services in these areas.
He joined Grand Union in 2015 as an independent member of the Audit & Risk Committee, was appointed to the Group Board in 2017 and is currently the chair of Grand Union Homes Ltd, GUHG Development Company Ltd, Grand Union Funding Group plc and the Funding Group and a board representative on the Investment Development Group.
